Angelika Kubisa

Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapist

BSC(HONS) PSYCHOLOGY | DIP.CBH | CERT-I-CBT

Hi, I’m a qualified Integrative therapist, trained in CBT, Hypnosis, Mindfulness and coaching. I specialise in working with stress, anxiety, depression and trauma to help you achieve more balance and both mental and physical tranquillity.

I help you uncover and change the patterns that keep you stuck —whether it’s chronic worry, negative thinking, unhelpful behaviours, feelings of anger, panic attacks, social anxiety, avoidance, difficulty relaxing, or a lack of effective coping tools.

My work focuses on helping you understand yourself and the problem better, identify, understand and break these cycles, process  tricky experiences and emotions, while also helping you re-connect with yourself and life in itself. I focus on developing practical strategies, building resilience and healthier habits that help you regain control, take meaningful action and improve overall wellness.

About

I've spent the last 10 years working in mental health, during which I have supported people through stress, anxiety, depression, trauma, and complex situations. As a qualified Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapist with a background in psychology, I specialise in supporting people in breaking free from unhelpful patterns, regain control, build tools that improve overall regulation, wellness and help you move forward.

Having experienced my own struggles with neurodivergence, crippling anxiety, depression, trauma, tricky relationships and disordered eating, I understand how overwhelming it can feel to be stuck in cycles of stress and self-doubt. It’s easy to feel trapped, lose sight of yourself and feel unsure where to begin, but I also know that real change is possible. With the right support, tools, and strategies, taking that first step becomes more manageable—and from there, meaningful progress follows.

My Approach

My approach is practical, evidence-based, and holistic, integrating CBT, hypnosis, mindfulness, and compassion-focused techniques to help you understand and break free from unhelpful patterns, manage stress and anxiety, build confidence and emotional resilience, and navigate relationship difficulties and communication struggles. I believe therapy is about more than just change —it’s about understanding how your mind, emotions, and nervous system work together to shape your experiences and also what you do as a result. It’s about learning to regulate your nervous system, re-establish a sense of safety within yourself and in the world, and develop tools that support long-term well-being. While therapy can involve processing difficult experiences and emotions, it’s equally about equipping you with the skills to cope better, feel more in control, and move forward with clarity.I have a strong interest in neuroscience, spirituality, personal development, and the mind-body connection, and I integrate these perspectives where they feel useful and suitable for the person I'm working with. I also have extensive experience working with neurodivergence, personality disorders, trauma, domestic abuse, and  narcissistic abuse.

Thoughts, Feelings & Actions

Our thoughts, feelings, and actions are deeply interconnected, shaping how we experience the world and respond to challenges. Neuroscience and psychology have shown that our thoughts have a powerful impact on our emotions (and vice versa), behaviours, and even our physical well-being. The way we think influences how we feel, which in turn affects the choices we make—often keeping us stuck in cycles of stress, anxiety, low mood and self-doubt.But the good news is that our brains are adaptable. Neuroplasticity—the brain’s ability to change and rewire itself—proves that we are not fixed in these patterns. With the right tools and approaches, we can break unhelpful cycles, develop healthier ways of thinking, find more balance and create meaningful, lasting change. That’s why I use a whole-person approach, helping you understand these connections, why its important to learn emotional regulation, long term wellbeing tools and take back control, to regain some mental and physical tranquillity. I work in a structured yet adaptable way, tailoring therapy to your needs, pace, and comfort level.

My Experience & Background

With 10 years of experience in mental health and healthcare, I’ve had the privilege of supporting individuals through a wide range of challenges, including anxiety, depression, trauma, addiction, personality disorders, complex life situations, and severe cases of abuse. My journey into this field began with a degree in Psychology, providing me with a deep understanding of the mind, behaviour, and the psychological processes that influence our lives. This foundational knowledge has been further strengthened by my qualifications in Life Coaching, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Hypnotherapy—tools that allow me to approach therapy in a holistic, flexible, and solution-focused way.

Throughout my career, I’ve worked in a variety of recovery and support roles within mental health and healthcare community settings, where I’ve been fortunate to support individuals both in group settings and one-to-one. I’ve helped people navigate through crisis situations, reintegrate into the community, and build the coping tools necessary for increased well-being and independence. I have also worked extensively with clients dealing with severe cases of abuse, guiding them in finding appropriate help, while also empowering them to move forward and rebuild their lives with a sense of agency and hope.

In addition, I have extensive experience working with neurodivergence, which has given me a strong understanding of the unique challenges faced by individuals who are Neurodivergent. I adapt my therapeutic approach to meet the specific needs of these clients, ensuring that they receive the support they need in a way that feels comfortable and effective for them.

Currently, I work as a Mental Health Support Coordinator within the NHS and as a therapist, part time. In my role as a Support Coordinator, I adopt a coaching-focused approach, guiding individuals through short-term emotional support, providing resources, and teaching practical coping strategies to ensure they have the tools to maintain their mental health in the long term. My work in the NHS allows me to support clients with a range of mental health challenges, from anxiety to more complex, long-term issues, with a focus on empowering them to manage their mental health independently.
